The Shire of Busselton has showcased Cornerstone’s visit to the Council Chambers, by putting together a presentation in the town library.
Earlier this year, our Year 6 students were granted the rare privilege of being councillors for the day, with the opportunity provided to act out a debate in the actual chambers. As a first for the region, our students were able to participate in this hands-on event, whilst also being educated by Shire Officers about the role that local government plays.
As a tribute to the success of this pilot program, the library is now featuring some of the work that was produced as a result of the excursion. This opportunity is now expected to be offered to other schools and students within the area.
A sensational opportunity to give our students insight into the real-life world and workings of government.
