In what has become a tradition over many years, Cornerstone’s classes of Kindy students have participated in a Dads Only Night in the lead-up to Father’s Day.
Each year as we approach this celebration of Fatherhood, the Kindy classes collectively return at night, with their Dads or other significant males in tow. The aim is to allow many Fathers, who otherwise don’t get to step into the classroom, to get to interact with their child in a range of activities. Over the past two nights, Dads and children have been seen constructing items out of wood, painting, completing puzzles, exploring the temporary in-room castle, and even drawing on the interactive white-board together. As well as sharing a special supper that was on offer, the grown-ups also got the chance to look through their child’s portfolio.
This lovely tradition is always incredibly popular, and gives us at Cornerstone the chance to say ‘Well done’ to the Fathers in each student’s life. The value that these significant men have in the development of each child cannot be over-stated, and on this occasion, we love having the opportunity to provide a chance for further interaction and engagement.
To each Dad - Happy Father’s Day. We hope you feel incredibly valued.

The proclamation was made far and wide within the whole of the Kindy Realm. A Grand Ball was to be held, to which all Prince and Princesses were invited. The Castle was prepared, the finest table set, and the young royals donned their finest for the most glorious event on the Kindy calendar.
Princesses played ‘Pin the Crown on the Princess’, and ‘Find the Matching Shoes in the Royal Wardrobe’ games. Princes played archery and ‘What’s the Time Mr Prince’, before dancing royal dances and then feasting on the finest food. In true Prince and Princess style, adult ‘servants’ served the young royals before being allowed to eat the leftovers.
A wonderful morning of truly ‘Royal’ proportions.

I
It has been a while for many of today’s guests – but for one day at least, they returned to the classroom.
The two Kindergarten classes at Cornerstone issued invitations to their grandparents to spend a special morning with them.
Whilst back in the school environment, grandparents were treated with a story, had their portraits painted by their grandchildren, made memorable crafts, shared morning tea, and were able to see their special little ones in action.
Very excited little faces were focused on the doorway before the visitors arrived. When the very dear and familiar family members appeared, there were lots of delighted smiles and warm hugs delivered. It was clearly a special event for everyone involved.
Later in the year, the College plans to have a broader grandparents event that will see students across every year group having the opportunity to spend time with their family matriarchs and patriarchs.
For this week’s event, special thanks must go to class teachers, Mrs Cathy Saw, Mrs Brenda Bindi, and their aides, Mrs van der Laan and Mrs Mapstone for making the day happen. Great initiative and great result.

For the first time, two classes of Kindy students have resulted in the traditional Dads Only Kindy Nights making a dual appearance as well.
Each year as we approach Father’s Day, the Kindy class collectively returns at night, with their Dads or other significant males in tow. The aim is to allow many Fathers, who otherwise don’t get to step into the classroom, to get to interact with their child in a range of activities. Over the past two nights, Dads and children have been seen constructing trucks out of wood, painting, completing puzzles and even drawing on the interactive white-board together. As well as a special supper being on offer, the grown-ups also got the chance to look through their child’s portfolio.

The Kindy & Pre-Primary students at Cornerstone Christian College have completed their year with a special concert. Hawaiian dancers, a swimming Santa, kangaroos and a Nativity all blended into a lovely story about the true meaning of Christmas.
‘Grandma’ Shannon sat with her family and read the story of the first Christmas. The young actors determined that to celebrate the season, there is no need for snow, Santa , or even a knowledge of English. They came to the conclusion that our recognition of the birth of Jesus and the message of love and hope it brings is the heart of the season.
A colourful array of costumes were on display, and many proud parents witnessed the acting debut of their children.
Special thanks must go to our amazing staff within the Early Learning Centre, who guided the students towards such a successful and heartwarming evening. Well done.

The Kindy children at the College have been busy getting their hands dirty – but all for a great cause. They have inherited a small vegetable garden and worm farm from Mrs Smith’s Organic Gardening Class, and have been happily engaged in establishing their own plants.
Over the course of the past week, these Cornerstone youngsters have been filling the gardens with soil, planting seedlings and learning about what worms like to eat. Scraps from fruit time at morning tea have been especially welcomed by their annelid friends.
With the help of their teacher Mrs Cathy Saw and assistant, Mary-anne van der Laan, a selection of seeds will also be planted in the garden bed being prepared by the children today. It is anticipated that later on in the year they will be able to taste the fruits of their labour.
These young students will not just benefit with the fun they are having in preparing the garden. Good nutrition, an understanding about plants and the worms will be developed, as well as responsibility in caring for something as fragile as a small seedling.
Great work kids. We can’t wait to see what your garden becomes!
