Grandparents in Kindy

I

It has been a while for many of today’s guests – but for one day at least, they returned to the classroom.

The two Kindergarten classes at Cornerstone issued invitations to their grandparents to spend a special morning with them.

Whilst back in the school environment, grandparents were treated with a story, had their portraits painted by their grandchildren, made memorable crafts, shared morning tea, and were able to see their special little ones in action.

Very excited little faces were focused on the doorway before the visitors arrived.  When the very dear and familiar family members appeared, there were lots of delighted smiles and warm hugs delivered.  It was clearly a special event for everyone involved.

Later in the year, the College plans to have a broader grandparents event that will see students across every year group having the opportunity to spend time with their family matriarchs and patriarchs.

For this week’s event, special thanks must go to class teachers, Mrs Cathy Saw, Mrs Brenda Bindi, and their aides, Mrs van der Laan and Mrs Mapstone for making the day happen.  Great initiative and great result.
