Year 12 Student, Lee is busy preparing for her exams but also has her mind on what lies after TEE.
Lee plans to head to Ghana in February to volunteer at an orphanage associated with an organisation called World Project Abroad.
There are 160,000 orphans in Ghana, largely due to AIDS. A shortage of staff at orphanages is making life even more difficult for these precious children. With a desire to make a difference, Lee has decided to spend three months in West Africa. This will be her first trip overseas and one that is sure to have an enormous impact.
Lee will work in whatever area has the greatest need – which could be teaching, caring or cleaning. Whatever she is asked to do, she is prepared to try her hand at and feels up to the challenge.
The Busselton Lions Club have thrown their support behind her and have established an Appeal to help in the raising of funds. Lions have also donated $500 towards the total cost of $6700 she will need to complete her time of service. As soon as her exams are over, Lee will commence work to raise the money she needs, but any assistance from individuals or businesses would be very welcomed.
